Major Opium Seizure in Dokmoka Prompts Arrests Amidst Ongoing Anti-Drug Campaign.

On Thursday, Dokmoka police conducted a routine checkpoint inspection and intercepted a truck arriving from Dimapur, with the license plate NL01-AF-0882. During the inspection, they discovered a clandestine shipment of 54 packages of Opium, weighing a total of 51.670 kilograms. Consequently, two individuals, namely Sonjib Chetry and Monus Chetry, were apprehended in connection with this illegal activity.

The illicit Opium had been transported from the nearby town of Dimapur. The efforts of Dokmoka's Officer in Charge, Ritupal Sensuwa, and Additional Superintendent of Police, Kongkon Kumar Nath, were instrumental in conducting thorough checks on vehicles traveling along NH-129.

The police report indicates that the confiscated Opium was en route from Dimapur. It is worth noting that the Assam police have undertaken a comprehensive campaign against the smuggling of narcotics across the entire state.
